In the jubilant atmosphere prevailing nationwide,  Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City (BUH) on Tuesday solemnly held a ceremony to mark the 36th Anniversary of the Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2018) at its Thu Duc campus.

The ceremony delegation included Dr. Bui Huu Toan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Acting Rector of BUH; representatives from the Party Committee, the Management Board, the Labour Union Executive Committee, Youth Union, Student Association, Elderly Association; current and former BUH academic staff, administrative staff and students. Also among the distinguished guests were leaders of the State Bank from the southern provinces and cities, directors of Commercial Banks, credit institutions and BUH partners.

On behalf of the University Management Board, Dr. Bui Huu Toan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Acting Rector gave a speech to congratulate all lecturers,  administrative staff and students on Vietnamese Teachers' Day- the 20^th of November. In his speech, Dr. Bui Huu Toan briefly recollected the glorious achievements BUH had gained in the past academic years, highlighting the outstanding development of the university over its 40 years of establishment and growth. In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, the Rector also sent his dearest wishes to all delegates.

 The Acting Rector also maintained that in the current fiercely competitive and increasingly demanding tertiary education and labor market of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), formidable challenges could be said to be unavoidable on the way to becoming an autonomous university and best meeting the requirements of  the ever-changing world. With a rich history and a strong team of dedicated, creative and wholehearted academics, the university is believed to be highly competent in  overcoming all hurdles to fulfill the assigned tasks. In his heartfelt message to the students, the Acting Rector underscored their indispensable roles as they are actually a source of inspiration and motivation for all lecturers in their teaching career. “It is our great honour to have dedicated students whose learning and research  progress could be witnessed day by day,” said Dr Bui Huu Toan. Also, for all undergraduate and graduate students of BUH to have a better learning environment, all individuals at BUH, with joint effort, were committed to sustain their devotion to build a standard, humane and professional training environment with the right management strategies.

 At the conference, there were also sincere words of sharing and congratulations expressed by the Dr. Nguyen Van Ha, People's Teacher, former Secretary of the Party Committee, former BUH Rector, as well as university staff of the past  academic years..

On this occasion, BUH awarded the title of  Emulation Soldier of the Banking Industry to 5 individuals (i.e. Dr. Bui Huu Toan, Dr. Cung Thi Tuyet Mai, Dr. Lam Thi Kim Lien, Dr. Tran Quoc Thinh and Dr. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong). Certificates of merit from the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam were also awarded to three collectives (i.e. Faculty of Accounting and Auditing, Faculty of International Economics and Faculty of Political Studies) and six individuals (i.e. Dr. Le Van Hai,  Dr. Nguyen The Binh, Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Dang Van Dan, Dr. Nguyen Van Tien, Dr. Nguyen Van Thuy and Nguyen Quoc Toan (M.A.)). 

At the ceremony, the university also announced the decision to appoint the title of Associate Professor  recognized in 2017 by the The State Council for Professor Title of Vietnam to five officials and lecturers, including Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dang Van Dan (Faculty of Finance), Assoc. Prof.Dr.Hoang Thi Thanh Hang (Graduate Department), Assoc.Prof.Dr.Nguyen Duc Trung (University Management Board), Assoc.Prof. Dr.Tran Mai Uoc (General Administration Office) and Assoc. Prof.Dr. Phan Dien Vy (Faculty of Banking).

The lecturers awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2017.
