On August 23, 2022, Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (HUB) successfully organized the Scientific Conference on "Language Research and Education 2022" (LERCON 2022). Speaking at the opening of LERCON 2022, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized the importance of language education in general and foreign languages in particular in the current globalization trend. Human resources who are proficient in both English and Chinese languages are urgently needed. One of the factors that helps HUB students in particular, students majoring in foreign languages in general have an advantage in the international labor market. The Acting Rector highly appreciated the presentations of the Conference, which revolved around very hot topics in language education today. He also said that LERCON is a quality scientific forum, and at the same time suggested that the Faculty of Foreign Languages improve LERCON in the following years, turning this seminar into a national conference, organized in hybrid form.

There were 6 papers presented at this conference, including 2 fields of English Language Research and Education, and Chinese Language Education and Research. That is the thesis "Principles, practice and difficulties in building Chinese language intermediate corpus of Vietnamese students" by Dr. Luu Hon Vu, "Perceptions of English language students about online assessment in the period of Covid-19" by Dr. Le Thi Thuy Nhung, "Surveying the situation of compiling exercises of zheng, zhengzai, zhe in current Chinese textbooks" by Dr. Vuong Hue Nghi and Dr. Tran Khai Xuan (Ho Chi Minh City University of Education), “Impact of Functional Grammar on improving reading skills for non-language major students” by MSc. Phan Le Vinh Thong and MSc. Ngo Thi Hanh Quyen, "Discussing the order of acquiring Chinese consonants from the perspective of acquiring Vietnamese children's mother tongue phonetics" by MSc. Dang Thu Lan, "Experience of first-year English language students in speaking class at HUB" by MSc. Nguyen Van Nguyen.

After the presentations, the workshop participants asked questions to the presenters. The rapporteurs and delegates had very lively discussions and exchanges in the spirit of science, thereby clarifying a number of relevant contents and discovering new research directions for the researchers. other projects in the future.
